Born and raised in LA I know it has its issues but I do love my city. I think when it comes to putting in effort it's definitely must. I have my group of friends from childhood who we all spread out in LA so we're not as close in proximity anymore. So I decided to take a day we are all free and go on a walk in silverlake. So that is our meeting point and we walk a few laps and catch up. Throughout the week we talk a bit maybe play some games but usually we interact the most during the weekend. As an introvert that is a good amount of interaction, plus my job has me socializing a lot throughout the week.

Even the SM 3rd street promenade is dying, drug addicts and trash is all over the place, most businesses are closing down... Very sad

Car or no car ? Very hmmm makes a person think video. Ha ha, I talked about this a few days ago because I went to the mall on my bike with a friend, she said bike, bus is fine when it gets there, train is not nice. Scooter we are willing to try, e-scooter of course. Our kids are old enough to get around on bike. Only my youngest dose not lie buses or trains, so she will bike her way around as far as grosseries and big go outs ? It actually depends on how we all feel. Car or no car, great conversation 🤔.

Absolutely no mention of the Art Institute, The Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, Adler Planetarium, Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago Symphony, Lyric Opera, the many other museums and galleries, the tons of playhouses all over the city, jazz clubs and concert venues. He did say that he spent most of his time outdoors, but seriously, he didn't visit even one cultural institution?

What's happening in LA is they're learning first-hand that climate change is real.

I grew up in NYC, Chicago, and New England. I liked New England best, but NYC and Chicago were also great.

I’ll be honest, LA is not a city. It’s a suburb that LARPs as a city. It blows my mind that you have a place that is gorgeous to bike and walk in and everyone is in their little metal boxes forced to breathe polluted air because they destroyed their entire city to build more highways.

I live in a place with ZERO public transport besides the occasional bus every 2 hours with a population of 500,000. IMO one of the best factors to determine a good city Is public transportation and car dependency, a city can be as nice as it wants and pretty and all but if you have to drive 2+ hours just to have some fun is it really a good city?

Tons of Chicagoans have beach houses in Michigan on lake Michigan. The Wisconsin side of lake Michigan has bluffs, but Michigan side has beautiful huge beaches and dunes. Chicagoans have homes in the st Joe area

This City, my beautiful LA, or at least this part of her, has completely changed after 2020. I used to come every year, for over a month, I even lived there for a while. I have always considered LA the custody of my Soul. I last went in December 2022. I was scared. I felt a sense of loneliness and despondency like never before. I miss her like air. But for the moment, given the situation and the prices, I will continue to watch her on videos.

I grew up on a block they jammed at (before my time.) I lived for years in my 20s off Venice Blvd on the West Side and cherish that experience. Enjoy all of it for me!!

Seattle with bad transit??? That's not true. Seattle has one of the best public transit systems in north america. Doesn't beat Montreal or NYC but the city is easy to get around due to its limited geographic size.

Moved to LA a few months ago! I think it’s essential to have a landing pad or friends couch to stay on for a few weeks to get situated. I subletted for a month and then finally found my dream apartment in a nice area of sunset park in Santa Monica.
